Frequently Asked Questions

Important Dates to Remember:

  1. Advance freight shipment may arrive at warehouse beginning July 3, 2010 from 9:00 am – 3:30 pm Monday-Friday
  2. Last Day for advance shipments w/o surcharge: August 1, 2010
  3. Materials will be accepted at the GES warehouse until August 1 (additional fees will apply)

Drayage Charges:

Drayage/Material Handling - is the unloading of your exhibit materials, delivery to your booth, handling of empty containers to and from storage, and removal of your materials from your booth for reloading onto your outbound carrier. This is not to be confused with the cost to transport your exhibit material to and from the event. Drayage/Material Handling begins when GES is in receipt of any freight from you, to the Convention Center.

Pricing:

Pricing will be $113 per cwt (100 lbs) for advanced receiving and $106 cwt (100 lbs) for direct receiving.  There is a 200 lb minimum for both rates.  If your are packages less than 50 lbs, there is a small package fee of $46 for the first piece and $23 for each additional piece received on the same shipment that remains under 50 lbs. (Please refer to the Exhibitor Service Manual for additional pricing and special material handling).

Teamster Union:

Members of this union claim jurisdiction on the operation of all material handling equipment, all unloading and reloading, and handling of empty containers. An exhibitor may move materials that can be carried by hand, by one person in one trip, without the use of dollies, hand trucks, or other mechanical equipment.

The Official Service Contractor shall be responsible for all matters in the Dock area. This shall include but not limited to such items as assignment of dock space and loading or unloading of all materials and equipment.

Freight:

Freight is “forced” off the floor if the shipment is cosigned to an outside carrier and they do not show up/pick-up within our designated exhibitor move-out period.  If this is the case, GES will follow instructions left on the Outbound Material Handling form in regards to the re-route of the material.

The installation and dismantling of prefabricated displays comes under the jurisdiction of the Carpenter’s Union.
